Skate Season 2: Release Date, Times, New Modes, Tricks, Areas, and a Big ’80s Makeover

EA’s free‑to‑play skateboarding sandbox, Skate (often called Skate 4 by fans), is officially rolling into Season 2 today, December 2, 2025. The new season, titled Future Radical, embraces an ‘80s theme and brings a wave of fresh content, features, and improvements designed to keep players grinding through San Van all winter long

New Game Mode – Own the Lot

  • Inspired by classic Skate modes

  • Objective: complete “Reqs” within 2–5 minutes

  • Group Size: 1–4 players (best with 4 for top rewards)

  • Reward Tiers:

    • Nailed It – 5+ Reqs → 20 Tix

    • Owned It – 10+ Reqs → 30 Tix

    • Crushed It – 15+ Reqs → 40 Tix

    • Killed It – 25+ Reqs → 55 Tix

    • Shut It Down – 40+ Reqs → 70 Tix


Party voice chat

  • Real-time comms: Built-in party voice chat so you can coordinate runs and call out Reqs without third-party apps.


Party beacons

  • Drop a beacon: Use the Comms Wheel to place a beacon in the world and signal for teammates.


New Tricks

  • Impossible Flips (first time in Skate series)

    • Front Foot, Nollie, Back Foot variants

    • Can be Held, Late, or performed from Grinds/Manuals

  • Handplants Expanded – from 2 to 16 variants

    • One‑Foot, No‑Foot, Tweaked Handplants

    • Can be chained and held for different durations


Replay Editor Upgrades

  • Advanced Editor Mode

  • Features: enhanced trimming, keyframes, camera interpolation, roll/tilt/offset framing

  • Hold Fakie Push (extended option)

  • 100 tiers (40 Standard, 60 Premium)

  • Standard Track: 35 cosmetic items + 5 SVB tiers

  • Premium Track: 57 cosmetic items + 3 SVB tiers

  • Combined Rewards: 92 cosmetics + 500 SVB

  • Cosmetics include decks, clothing, gestures, banners, avatars, and mascot outfit Reginald the Ratty Patty

  • Both events include themed cosmetics, park updates, and event currency rewards


Challenges and tasks

  • Daily: 4 tasks refreshed every day.

  • Weekly: 6 tasks each week, lasting 3 weeks.

  • Monthly: 10 tasks per month, lasting 4–5 weeks.

  • Event: 6–10 tasks weekly during events, with event currency rewards until the event ends.

  • Own the Lot: 4 season-long tasks tied to the new OTL mode.


Reward tuning snapshot (high level)

  • Amateur (3 goals): 14 Tix per goal, 42 total.

  • Semi-Pro (4 goals): 16 Tix per goal, 64 total.

  • Pro (5 goals): 18–20 Tix per goal depending on difficulty, 80–100 total.

  • Total possible challenges: Increased from 30 (S1) to 120 (S2).

  • skate.Pass progression (Tix): Standard/Premium increased to approx. 19,530 / 36,826.

  • Max earnable Tix (overall): Up to approx. 76,357, including Own the Lot contributions.
