Sega has confirmed that the Switch 2 Edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be priced at $69.99/£64.99 for the digital release.

For those who already own the game on the original Switch, there’s a clear upgrade path: a $10 Upgrade Pack that transfers both content and progress to the new console. Even better, between December 3 and December 10, the upgrade pack will be discounted to just $5, making it a solid deal for returning players.

A physical edition is also on the way, though fans will need to wait until early 2026. Sega has stated that this version will include the full base game on a 64GB cartridge, but there won’t be any Limited Run Games Collector’s Edition or pre-order bonuses tied to the Switch 2 release.

Similarly, there won’t be a dedicated Digital Deluxe Edition for Switch 2, though you can still access enhanced content by purchasing the original Switch Digital Deluxe Edition alongside the Upgrade Pack, or by grabbing the Season Pass.

The game itself remains packed with content. The roster includes familiar Sonic characters like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman, but also features crossover icons such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Mega Man.

From a technical standpoint, the Switch 2 version will take advantage of the console’s hardware. In docked mode, players can expect 2560x1440 resolution at 60fps for single and two-player split-screen, while four-player split-screen runs at 30fps. Handheld mode delivers 1080p at 60fps for up to two players, dropping to 30fps for four-player sessions. The file size is around 16GB, and multiplayer requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

CrossWorlds also supports cross-platform matchmaking, meaning you’ll be able to race against friends regardless of which platform they’re on.

At launch, the Switch 2 Edition will include all content released up to Patch 2, with paid DLC available separately. Sega has also confirmed that the Werehog DLC will be free for the first two weeks after release.
