Sonic Rumble is finally on track for release next month after facing several delays.

Originally planned for last winter, the mobile and PC party game from Rovio, best known as the studio behind Angry Birds, was pushed back to May, then delayed again without a clear launch date. Now, it’s officially expected to arrive in November, with the iOS App Store listing November 30 as the release date.
According to Rovio, the extra development time wasn’t wasted. In a blog post, the studio explained that months of playtesting allowed them to refine the game from the ground up. “This extra development time allowed us to roll out several, player-focused updates that refined the core game,” the team wrote.
So, what’s new? Quite a lot, actually. Rovio highlighted three major areas of improvement:
Deeper Core Gameplay: Expect iconic character skills, new stages, and additional game modes. Players can also form Crews with friends to take part in time-limited events and earn rewards.
Better Onboarding & UI: The new player journey has been streamlined so you can jump into the action faster. The interface has also been overhauled, with missions and achievements now grouped into a single, easy-to-navigate hub.
Progression & Rewards: Cosmetic and character progression systems have been simplified, making every unlock feel meaningful. The shop and reward systems have been fine-tuned, while score ranks and achievements have been adjusted to make progression more rewarding.
The game itself is a battle royale party experience for up to 32 players online, where you’ll compete in minigames and platforming challenges to collect rings. If you’ve played Fall Guys, you’ll recognize the chaotic, arcade-style fun, only this time with Sonic and friends speeding through the madness.
This launch also marks Rovio’s first new title since being acquired by Sega in 2023 for £625 million, making it a significant release for both companies.
Pre-registration now open on iOS, Google Play, and Steam.
