Following its success in China and India, Sony has introduced its Hero Project to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
The program, known as the MENA Hero Project, is all about discovering new talent and supporting creators from the region with mentorship, investment, and opportunities to publish their games on a global scale.
According to SIE, the project will also help strengthen the growing gaming ecosystem across countries such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Tunisia, Algeria, and Iraq.
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has revealed the first wave of titles under the MENA Hero Project. Here’s a closer look at the four games leading the way.
Red Bandits
Developer: Team Agenda (Saudi Arabia)
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PC
Red Bandits drops players into a hyper-capitalist dystopia where a single corporation controls everything. You play as Stutt, an older thief with a stutter and a mysterious past, leading a rebellion against the system through high-stakes heists. The game mixes fast-paced action with personal storytelling, giving players the thrill of stylish robberies alongside a narrative about resistance and freedom.
Enci’s Solution
Developer: Dark Emerald Studios (United Arab Emirates)
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PC (Steam)
If you enjoy narrative-driven adventures, Enci’s Solution offers a beautifully hand-painted 2.5D platforming experience. It follows Ji’we, a young Aeon who ventures beyond his underground village to save a close friend. Along the way, he meets Enci, a lost encyclopedic robot, and together they uncover the mysteries of planet Regalia. With more than 40 levels, collectibles, and hidden areas, this game encourages players to dig deeper into its techno-dystopian world.
The Perfect Run
Developer: Lanterns Studios (Tunisia)
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PC
Time is both your biggest weapon and your greatest enemy in The Perfect Run. Players take control of Quicksave, a time-traveling hero trying to save—or possibly doom—the futuristic city of New Rome. The game runs on a three-day loop, where every decision matters. Players can rewind time, change alliances, and even fight bosses with knowledge gained from previous loops. It’s an action-packed RPG designed to reward creativity and experimentation.
A Cat’s Manor
Developer: Happiest Dark Corner (Bahrain)
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PC (Steam)
For something a little more mysterious, A Cat’s Manor takes players into a spider-filled mansion where they wake up with a stitched hand at the end of their tail. The game blends puzzles, crafting, combat, and even rhythm-based challenges to create a tense, immersive adventure. Enhanced with 3D audio and DualSense features, the experience is meant to pull players deep into the eerie secrets of the manor and the family that lives there.
