Team Redline has successfully defended its title at the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, becoming the first team in Rennsport R1 history to win back-to-back championships.
The Rennsport R1 Major, held from July 8 to 11, saw 9 of the world’s top sim racing teams go head-to-head in an intense battle for a $500,000 prize pool. Among the contenders were powerhouses like Virtus.pro, Porsche Coanda, and Team Vitality. But it was Team Redline, seeded second, that emerged victorious once again.
Starting directly from the group stage, Team Redline won three out of four races. Their momentum carried into the upper bracket, where they secured two wins out of three races to book their spot in the grand final.
Team Redline’s performance in the finals was nothing short of spectacular. Each race showed their experience and cohesion, which ultimately led them to claim the top spot and take home $200,000 in prize money, along with 1,000 Club Championship (CC) points.
Celebrating the Victory
Reflecting on the experience, Redline driver Jeffrey Rietveld shared his thoughts, saying, “It’s been absolutely incredible. The hospitality in Riyadh has been exceptional, and everything’s been organized so well. That really helped us focus and race at our best.” He also highlighted how the Esports World Cup has grown, pointing out larger arenas and more global spectators this year.
As a unique tradition of EWC, the champions are allowed to embed the keys of three defeated rivals into their trophy. Redline chose to crush and embed the keys of Virtus.pro, Porsche Coanda, and Team Vitality—each a formidable rival and now part of Redline’s legacy.
Luke Bennett, another key driver for Team Redline, also an MVP, expressed his pride, stating, “We’re building a legacy. Winning the EWC title two years in a row is huge for us. It’s something we’ll never forget.”
What Is Rennsport R1?
Rennsport R1 is a competitive sim racing league built around the Rennsport game—developed by Competition Company and Teyon and launched in early access in July 2024. It features GT3-class racing cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 R and tracks such as Monza, Spa, and Daytona. The 2025 season has been particularly significant with a new structure and no involvement from ESL FACEIT Group, unlike last year.

The Rennsport R1 season is divided into a Seeding Stage, Group Stage, and a Last Chance Qualifier, all leading up to the EWC Major in Riyadh. Twelve teams started the journey, with 9 qualifying for the finals at EWC.
