Vitality's Historic CS2 Domination Continues with BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 Victory

Team Vitality

Team Vitality has won their fifth tournament in a row by defeating Team Falcons 3-2 in the BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 grand finals on May 4.

This victory extends their impressive winning streak to 25 consecutive matches, making them the most dominant team in Counter-Strike 2 today.

The French powerhouse claimed the top prize of $125,000 from the tournament's $350,000 prize pool.

Team Falcons received $75,000 as runners-up after their second straight grand finals defeat to Vitality in recent weeks.

The championship match was a thrilling five-map battle held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Falcons pushed Vitality to Map 5 (just like at IEM Melbourne):

  • Inferno (Falcons 13-9) – m0NESY 23 kills

  • Dust II (Vitality 13-6) – ZywOo 17 kills, apEX knife clutch

  • Train (Vitality 13-6) – flameZ 20 kills

  • Mirage (Falcons 16-14 OT) – m0NESY 35 kills, insane 1v2 clutch

  • Nuke (Vitality 13-8) – ropz 24 kills, ZywOo 20 kills

ZywOo tallied 90 kills with a +24 kill-death differential, while ropz contributed 91 kills with a +23 differential. With this, ZywOo won his 25th career MVP (most in CS history).

For Team Falcons, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov stood out with 92 kills and a +14 differential. His performance in game four on Mirage was particularly impressive, where he recorded 35 frags and secured a clutch 1v2 AWP play to help force the fifth map.

According to Esports Charts, the tournament reached a peak viewership of 1,037,291 concurrent viewers, making it the 2nd most popular non-Major BLAST Premier event ever. The grand final's fourth map alone drew 1,010,421 viewers, showing the growing global interest in competitive Counter-Strike.

The tournament format brought together 8 teams: 4 elite squads from the Valve Global Rankings and 4 regional qualifier winners. After the group stages, the playoffs proceeded through a single-elimination bracket with best-of-three matches until the best-of-five grand final.

Vitality's current dominance is especially noteworthy given the competitive nature of today's Counter-Strike scene. While their 25-match winning streak is impressive, it remains well behind the historic 87-0 map record set by Ninjas in Pyjamas in the early days of CS between 2012-2013.

Vitality's current roster, featuring ZywOo, ropz, Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, and William "mezii" Merriman, has proven nearly unstoppable since ropz joined in January 2025. Along with their five tournament victories, they've also secured a $1,000,000 Grand Slam bonus for winning four elite-level tournaments in a row.

Counter-Strike fans won't have to wait long for more action, as PGL Astana 2025 is scheduled to run from May 10 to 18. While neither Vitality nor Falcons will participate in that event, top teams like Natus Vincere, The MongolZ, and Team Spirit will compete for the championship.
