Texas Chain Saw Massacre Game Ends Content Updates as Developers Move On

Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Gun Interactive has confirmed that its asymmetrical multiplayer horror title The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will no longer receive new content, balance patches, or support after May 2025.

The company believes the game has now reached its "full potential" and is "fully realized" according to their original vision.

A Natural Ending for a Niche Horror Hit

Released in August 2023, this online survival horror game based on the iconic horror film franchise will transition to peer-to-peer matchmaking after the final May patch.

Despite ending active development, Gun Interactive has assured players that the game will remain available for purchase and will not be removed from digital storefronts.

"From the very beginning, we've always had a clear and concise vision for this game," the development team explained in their press release. They acknowledged that their approach to asymmetrical multiplayer horror "may not be for everyone," but expressed gratitude for the fan support they've received since the game's launch.

Before support winds down, a few final updates are expected to shift the game to peer-to-peer matchmaking, removing the need for centralized servers. This change ensures the game will remain accessible long-term, even as official support winds down.

Gun Interactive Eyes New Horror Projects

Despite the mixed reception from fans, Gun Interactive remains committed to horror. The studio teased that it’s already at work on its next project:

“As a creative studio, it’s imperative to communicate that we’ve seen this vision through to the natural creative end. We’re ready to continue to do what we do best… make your favorite horror games.”
