The First Descendant Receives Update to Fix Frustrating Bug

The First Descendant

A new update for The First Descendant has been released to address an annoying bug that has been causing problems for players. The free-to-play looter-shooter game is getting hotfix 1.2.13b to fix an issue where players entering Albion would sometimes be sent back to the title screen unexpectedly.

The hotfix has been deployed across all platforms including Steam, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5, without requiring any maintenance downtime.

When The First Descendant was initially released, it achieved impressive numbers with over 10 million players in its first week. However, the game soon faced criticism from many players. According to player feedback, much of the disappointment centered around the game's extensive microtransactions, which many considered excessive and potentially predatory.

Additionally, many fans claimed the game borrowed too heavily from other popular titles like Destiny 2 and Warframe. These issues, especially the aggressive monetization practices, led to a significant drop in player count after the initial surge of interest.

Despite these setbacks, Nexon, the Korean publisher behind the title, continues to work on improving the game through regular updates and patches. The latest hotfix addresses a particularly frustrating problem affecting the game's main hub area.

Albion serves as the central hub city in The First Descendant and is crucial to the game's progression system. As per the game's design, this safe zone contains many important features including gear upgrades, resource management, and Descendant research. Players need to frequently visit Albion to unlock new missions that drive the story forward and provide valuable resources and gear.

The bug that caused players to be kicked out of Albion made accessing these missions difficult and sometimes impossible, creating a significant obstacle to gameplay. For many players still enjoying the game, this fix represents a welcome improvement to their experience.

This isn't the first update The First Descendant has received this year. In February, developers released a helpful update that addressed weapon balance issues and made significant adjustments to enemy spawns and difficulty levels in the Void Erosion Purge endgame content.

The gaming community can look forward to even more content coming this month. A developer livestream is scheduled for April 9th, 2025, at 7 PM PT (7:30 AM IST on April 10th). This stream promises to preview the Season 2 Episode 2 April update, potentially revealing new features, balance changes, or characters following the major "Beyond the Void" update released in March.
