Titanfall 3 Rumors Suggest 2026 Release After Multiple Cancellations

New rumors indicate that Titanfall 3 is currently in development at Respawn Entertainment with a potential reveal later this year and a 2026 release date.

The gaming community has been waiting for a new Titanfall game since 2016, when Titanfall 2 was released to critical acclaim despite disappointing sales figures. This beloved first-person shooter series, known for combining fast-paced pilot movement with giant mech combat, has maintained a dedicated fanbase that continues to hope for a third installment.

Reliable Leakers Hint at Titanfall 3

Two well-known leakers from the Titanfall and Apex Legends scenes are fueling the hype.

  • YOROTSUKI_ first hinted back in December 2024 that Respawn had a new project in the works.

  • That claim was later backed by Osvaldatore, who posted what appeared to be a Titanfall 3 logo on social media.

Both leakers have solid track records within the Apex Legends and Titanfall communities, lending some credibility to their claims. They also suggest that an official Titanfall 3 reveal could happen at The Game Awards 2025, with the full release expected in 2026.

Caution Is Warranted

Still, not all industry voices are convinced. A report from Insider Gaming notes that Titanfall 3 has already been canceled multiple times behind the scenes. One reason allegedly given for scrapping a previous build? It was "too similar to Titanfall 2." That logic has baffled fans, who argue that a proper sequel should resemble its critically adored predecessor.

Part of the problem is Respawn's shifting priorities. In recent years, the studio has been laser-focused on supporting Apex Legends and developing the Star Wars Jedi series. While both efforts have been successful, they've left little room for a traditional Titanfall sequel — despite the series' strong cult following.

Now Might Be the Right Time

Industry analysts believe Titanfall 3 may finally be Respawn’s next big move.

  • With Apex Legends’ player base reportedly shrinking,

  • And Respawn canceling at least three projects in the past year — including a Mandalorian-based FPS and a single-player Apex spinoff — The timing might be right for Titanfall’s return.

There’s also the growing pressure for Respawn to expand beyond the Star Wars license, giving more breathing room for original IPs. Titanfall 3 could fit that need — especially if it builds on the momentum of Titanfall 2, which many still hail as one of the best FPS campaigns of the decade.

For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation from Respawn Entertainment or its parent company Electronic Arts.
