Ubisoft has announced a new cost reduction plan targeting more than $110 million in savings over the next two years. This news comes alongside the gaming giant's full-year 2024-25 earnings report.
The company has already completed its initial cost-cutting goal, slightly exceeding its target of €200 million (approximately $224 million). Now Ubisoft is pushing further with an additional fixed cost reduction of €100 million (over $110 million) to be achieved within the next two years.
According to Ubisoft, these cost-saving measures may lead to more studio closures and staff reductions. Ubisoft has already shut down several studios and laid off employees in previous rounds of cost-cutting efforts.
Despite these financial challenges, the report contained some positive news about game performance. Assassin's Creed: Shadows received strong praise from players and performed "clearly ahead" of its predecessor, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.
The company reported net bookings of €1.85 billion for the fiscal year, falling slightly short of their projected goal.
The Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six franchises maintained strong player engagement, with about 30 million unique active players for the franchise for the fourth consecutive year. The Far Cry series attracted 20 million players, while Ubisoft's other game titles collectively brought in more than 100 million unique active players during the 2024-25 fiscal year.
