UPDATE 12/28: According to the official announcement, live tests are now finished, and the developers are opening the game to "all players." You might encounter a queue when connecting as services ramp up. The rollback is also complete. Players who didn’t log in between December 27th at 10:49 UTC and December 29th should see no changes to their inventory. For those who did log in after December 27th at 10:49 UTC, a small number may temporarily lose access to some owned items. Investigations and fixes will continue over the next two weeks, and the Marketplace will stay closed until further notice.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Rainbow Six Siege is currently facing a major security threat.

Earlier this morning, players noticed something was off when their accounts suddenly displayed billions of R6 Credits and Renown without any purchases being made.

Along with the currency influx, thousands of Alpha Packs were being distributed randomly, and exclusive cosmetic items, including developer-only skins like Glacier, were showing up in inventories.

The chaos didn't stop there, as the in-game ban system appeared to be completely compromised, with accounts getting banned and unbanned seemingly at random. Even high-profile streamers and content creators found themselves caught in the crossfire.

Text on a background reads, "We stopping this for now, have a nice night everyone at Ubisoft! has been banned due to Toxic Behavior" repeated four times.

Ubisoft now acknowledged the situation through a brief statement on social media, saying they were "aware of an incident" affecting Rainbow Six Siege and that teams were "working on a resolution." In the meantime, Siege and the Marketplace have been intentionally taken offline.

However, this measured response has drawn heavy criticism from the community, with many players accusing the publisher of downplaying what appears to be a major security breach by framing it as a routine server issue.

The official service status page confirms the severity, showing critical outages across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms, with authentication systems, in-game stores, and matchmaking all experiencing failures.

Prominent Siege content creator KingGeorge weighed in on the situation, describing it as "completely f**ed" and strongly advising his followers not to log in. He specifically warned against spending any of the mysteriously added currency, as doing so could potentially result in bans or account rollbacks once Ubisoft regains control of their systems.

The community is now bracing for mass rollbacks, though concerns remain about innocent players potentially facing penalties if they unknowingly interacted with the compromised content.

Until there’s official confirmation that the systems are secure and the issue is fully resolved, it’s best to stay offline, avoid logging in, and hold off on spending any in-game currency even if you manage to get access.
