Riot Games has confirmed Vi as the 8th playable character for its upcoming 2v2 fighting game 2XKO, alongside announcing the long-anticipated closed beta, which kicks off on September 9, 2025.
Vi, known for her punch-first attitude in League of Legends and her rising popularity from Netflix’s Arcane, will be available to play publicly for the first time at the Evo 2025 fighting game tournament next month. After that, fans will need to secure a spot in the closed beta to try her out—unless they wait for the full launch sometime in 2025.
The upcoming closed beta won’t be just a limited weekend affair. Riot clarified that this phase will act as a precursor to the game’s full release. According to the studio, servers will remain live without major restrictions apart from routine maintenance. It’s worth noting that entry will be restricted to invited players only, though anyone who participated in Alpha Lab 1 or 2 will automatically be included. For now, the beta will be exclusive to PC, with console support coming later.
Vi’s reveal came with a gameplay trailer that showed off her fast-paced, aggressive fighting style. She’s designed as a rushdown brawler—perfect for players who love staying on the offensive. Her move set seems to echo classic characters like Terry Bogard, though her speed and fluid combos give her a unique edge.
As for her place in the roster, she becomes the eighth confirmed fighter in the game, bringing Riot closer to its projected 10-character launch lineup. Despite the limited roster—especially when compared to League of Legends' sprawling 170+ champions—the focus in 2XKO remains on tight, tag-team combat.
Here’s the complete list of 2XKO characters revealed so far:

This update marks the first real rollout plan we've seen for 2XKO in quite some time. While fans have been eager to get their hands on it, updates have been sporadic, making this reveal a welcome step forward.
