Two Warhammer 40k Strategy Games Will Leave Steam This Monday

Warhammer 40k

Two popular Warhammer 40k strategy games will be removed/delisted from Steam on Monday, May 19.

Publisher Slitherine has announced that both "Warhammer 40k: Armageddon" and "Warhammer 40k: Sanctus Reach" will no longer be available for purchase on Steam after Monday.

The good news is that fans can still grab "Armageddon" at a huge 90% discount (at $5), while "Sanctus Reach" at $30, before they're gone.

Players who already own these games (or buy them in a last-minute) don't need to worry, as Slitherine stated: "If you've already purchased the game on Steam — it will remain in your library, and you'll still be able to download and play it as usual."

For those unfamiliar with these titles, "Warhammer 40k: Armageddon" is a turn-based strategy game where players command Imperial forces and Space Marines against invading Orks. The game uses a hex-grid system similar to the combat in Civilization games. When it was released in 2014, it received praise for its "focus and simplicity," making it a great starting point for newcomers to the strategy genre who are interested in the Warhammer universe.

Meanwhile, "Warhammer 40k: Sanctus Reach" offers a different experience, allowing players to choose between playing as the Space Wolves or the Ork Goffs in a battle for the Sanctus Reach star system. The game features two story campaigns with 30 units on each side and notable heroes like Krom Dragongaze and Grukk FaceRippa. Players can also enjoy skirmish modes and multiplayer battles.

While these games are leaving Steam, they aren't disappearing completely. As per Slitherine's statement, "This is not the end of the battle! Sanctus Reach will remain available on GOG.com, where you can continue to purchase and enjoy the full franchise DRM-free."

The delisting will happen on Monday, May 19 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST / 7pm CEST.
