Assassin's Creed Shadows Roadmap: Free Updates and New Content Coming Throughout 2025

Ubisoft has officially revealed the Year 1 post-launch roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, outlining a steady stream of free content updates, gameplay improvements, and a major paid expansion set to roll out through 2025.

The game, which launched in March to critical and commercial success, is already second second-best-selling title of the year in the U.S. market.

What’s Coming in 2025

According to Ubisoft’s roadmap, the team will deliver story quests, parkour upgrades, new gameplay systems, and ongoing quality-of-life improvements. Here’s a breakdown of what players can expect in the coming months:

May 2025

• 📖 Story Update:

  • "The Works of Luís Fróis" introduces a new questline, Codex entries, and world-changing gameplay additions.

• ⚙️ Gameplay Tweaks:

  • Enhanced quality-of-life features for exploration and stealth.

• 🏃‍♀️ Parkour Improvements (late May):

  • New moves like vertical ledge jumps, back ejects, and improved side transitions.

  • Designed to make rooftop traversal smoother for both main characters.

• 📸 Photo Mode Update

• 🎉 First In-Game Collaboration Event

June 2025

• 📖 2nd Story Update:

  • "Ally For Your League" introduces a new questline and gameplay additions.

• 🎮 New Features:

  • Difficulty modifiers

  • Immersion-focused UI options

  • Cutscene headgear toggles

  • Open-world alarm system that enhances stealth mechanics

Ubisoft’s Daniel St. Germain, community developer, confirmed that updates are shaped heavily by player feedback, stating, “Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions and changes based on your feedback and requests.”

Beyond June

The roadmap teases even more additions later this year, including:

• New Game+ mode

• More story drops

• Special crossovers

• Expanded Codex entries

• Animus content

• Additional in-game rewards

Ubisoft also hinted that this roadmap only covers part of what’s planned, with more surprises coming in future updates.

Paid Expansion: Claws of Awaji

Coming later in 2025, this premium DLC adds a brand-new region, a bo staff weapon for Naoe, and approximately 10 hours of new content. The expansion is free for pre-order customers and will be available separately for others.

Set in feudal Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and has been celebrated for its visuals, world design, and stealth-action gameplay.
