The beloved Nickelodeon series, which originally aired from 2005 to 2008, has never really left the spotlight. With fresh projects like a new animated film and Netflix series S2 already in development, it feels like the perfect time for Avatar to step into a genre fans have been asking for: a dedicated fighting game.

The newly announced title, currently called Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, is set to release in Summer 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

According to Gameplay Group, the game will launch with 12 playable fighters, each representing different bending styles, while additional characters will arrive later through a seasonal model. Fan favorites like Aang, Zuko, Toph, Azula, Katara, and Sokka are already confirmed, and Korra from The Legend of Korra is also making an appearance.

What makes this project stand out is its focus on movement-driven combat. The developers have introduced something called the Flow System, a mechanic designed to encourage rhythm-based fighting, fluid combos, and creative mobility. If you’ve ever wanted to chain bending attacks while dashing across the battlefield, this system looks like it’s built for that.

Beyond the core roster, players can also choose support characters that influence fighting styles and unlock special attacks, kinda like assists in other fighters.

The game won’t just be about versus battles either. There’s a single-player campaign with an original story, Combo Trials for practice, and a Gallery Mode featuring concept art, animations, and music.

On the technical side, rollback netcode and full cross-play are confirmed.

An official Steam page is already live for those who want to wishlist the title.

The pre-alpha trailer footage already shows off expressive animations true to the show's style. Watch it below:
