Battlefield 6 Season 2 Is Here: Release Times and Full Content Breakdown

Battlefield 6 Season 2 officially launches today on February 17, 2026, bringing a new map, fresh weapons, new vehicles, limited-time modes, and phased content updates that will roll out through mid-April.

Season 2 is not just a single content drop. It is structured across three distinct phases, meaning players will have reasons to keep coming back over the next couple of months. But first, let us get the most important part out of the way: when exactly can you jump in?

Phase 1: Launch Content (February 17)

The first wave of Season 2 content hits on day one. Here is everything coming at launch:

Contaminated Map

The new Contaminated map takes place in a German airbase. It was briefly teased through Portal back in January, so some players may already be familiar with the setting. The map supports all squad sizes and allows for land vehicles and helicopters. Jets, however, will not be available here.

VL-7 Strike LTM

This new limited-time mode plays on the Contaminated map and introduces gas zones across the playfield. Players caught in these zones without proper gear will experience hallucinations. Gas Masks and filters are scattered throughout the map and become essential pickups. Multiple game modes are available within this playlist.

RedSec Content

RedSec also gets fresh content at launch, specifically two new limited-time modes:

  • Altered State Gauntlet: Classic Gauntlet rules with the added VL-7 Strike Gas mechanic layered in.

  • Battle Royale Synthesis: Standard Battle Royale rules combined with gas zones that carry higher-rarity loot. Players can also find a VL-7 Strike Package in the loot pool to deploy gas tactically on enemies.

New Weapons and Global Content

Four new weapons arrive at launch, all unlockable through the Season 2 Battle Pass:

  • GRT-CPS Marksman Rifle

  • VCR-2 Assault Rifle

  • M121 A2 LMG

  • 9K38 IGLA Launcher (Engineer Class, features a relock mechanic after losing a target)

The HTI-MK2 gadget-countering item also arrives for the Recon Class.

On top of that, the Scout Helicopter returns to maps that support helicopter gameplay in both Battlefield 6 and RedSec.

Two more notable additions round out the launch content:

  • Catchup Challenges: A way for players to unlock weapons they missed during Season 1.

  • Year of the Horse Challenges: A free themed event running from February 17 to March 3.

Phase 2: Nightfall (March 17)

The second phase of Season 2 drops on March 17 and takes things in a darker, more atmospheric direction. As the name suggests, low lighting and night vision play a big role here.

Hagental Base Map

This new infantry-focused map is inspired by Metro and Locker from Battlefield 3. It is set in a subterranean base and built for close-quarters combat. Expect tight corridors, limited sightlines, and a heavy emphasis on darkness.

Nightfall LTM

The map gets its own dedicated mode. Nightfall is completely dark, and Night Vision Goggles become a must. Thermal Sights and Flashlights are expected to dominate the meta in this playlist.

RedSec Nightfall Gauntlet and New POI

RedSec gets its own Nightfall variant of Gauntlet, also set on Hagental Base. Reduced squad sizes and selective operation challenges apply here.

A brand new point of interest called Testing Complex 3 also arrives for the Fort Lyndon Battle Royale map, featuring a subterranean section with high-rarity loot.

New Weapons and Vehicles

Two new weapons come with Phase 2:

  • CZ3A1 SMG

  • VZ.61 Machine Pistol

New attachments also arrive, including a thermal and red dot hybrid optic and a laser and flashlight underbarrel combo. Both are clearly designed with the Nightfall LTM in mind.

The Dirt Bike also makes its debut as the fastest ground vehicle in both Battlefield 6 and RedSec.

Phase 3: Hunter / Prey (April 14)

The final phase of Season 2 is the leanest of the three, but it still brings some meaningful additions to close out the season. Full details on the Operation Augur LTM have not been revealed yet, but the rest of the Phase 3 content is confirmed:

  • LTV Vehicle

  • KAPOK 14" Machete melee weapon

  • Battle Royale Duos mode

  • Escalation experiences with Portal support

The Season 2 patch notes is now available, covering fixes and adjustments across player movement, vehicles, weapons, gadgets, UI, audio, and Portal. Weapon recoil tuning across a wide range of firearms has been adjusted, and player movement has been reworked with new acceleration curves to improve both feel and readability in gunfights.
