Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has introduced a new digital storytelling project called Beyond Battlegrounds, starting with the remarkable story of a railway technician from Rajasthan who built a full-scale, functional replica of the game’s iconic buggy entirely from scrap materials.
The debut short film in this initiative follows 28-year-old Karan Kargwal from Sri Ganganagar. By day, he works as a railway technician, but by night, he welded and assembled the buggy atop the roof of his modest home. Without blueprints or specialized tools, Kargwal relied on a 3D model and a handful of in-game screenshots to reverse-engineer the vehicle. The process involved late-night welding sessions in desert conditions and repurposing discarded mechanical parts.

In the film, Kargwal shares, “This buggy is more than metal and wheels. It’s proof that when passion meets purpose, unexpected dreams can come alive.”
The makers blends cinematic storytelling with visual elements inspired by gaming and documentary filmmaking, aiming to create an immersive experience that reflects real-life passion born from virtual worlds.
The project was created in collaboration with Veeville Consulting, with a shared vision of showcasing stories that connect gaming culture to grassroots creativity. According to Dhruva Vorkady, Creative Strategist at Veeville Consulting, this film stood out for its authenticity and emotional resonance. He noted that working with KRAFTON on this project was deeply rewarding because it celebrated creators from India’s heartland in the most genuine way possible.
Krafton India took notice of Kargwal after his Instagram reel featuring the buggy went viral, amassing over 2.2 lakh followers — with a majority from Tier 2, 3, and 4 cities. Recognizing the strong community support behind him, Krafton decided to back his vision, which eventually became the launchpad for Beyond Battlegrounds.
Saurabh Shah, Head of People Operations at KRAFTON India, described Kargwal’s achievement as more than just a build, calling it an inspiring example of how gaming can fuel ambition, creativity, and identity in regions that often go unnoticed. “Through Beyond Battlegrounds, we are proud to champion voices like his that are redefining what gaming culture means in India’s heartland,” Shah said.
This initiative aims to spotlight fans who turn gaming inspiration into real-world creations, merging virtual passion with tangible expression. Kargwal’s journey — from welding scrap parts in a small town to being featured in a national campaign — perfectly encapsulates this vision.
