Call of Duty 2027 is reportedly taking the franchise in a brand-new direction, and this time, it’s not another Modern Warfare or Black Ops installment. According to popular leaker TheGhostOfHope, the upcoming title by Sledgehammer Games will kick off an entirely new subfranchise — one set in a modern-era world with a fresh approach to gameplay.
The insider shared the info on X, revealing that this new COD game won’t be Advanced Warfare 2 as some had hoped or feared. Instead, Sledgehammer is building something original, skipping the jetpacks and leaning into more grounded but fluid movement mechanics. In fact, movement is said to be a major focus, which could mean faster pacing, slicker animations, or possibly new traversal options.
One big surprise? Zombies mode is reportedly not planned for this entry. That might disappoint a chunk of the fanbase, but Sledgehammer could be making up for it by bringing back Get High — a fan-favorite obstacle course mode that challenges players’ timing and agility. It’s a small feature, sure, but for those who enjoy skill-based fun outside of traditional gunplay, it could be a welcome return.
What’s even more unexpected is the rumored inclusion of martial arts mechanics. We’re talking karate chops and kicks as examples — which is definitely something new for Call of Duty.
Of course, all of this info is based on leaks and not yet confirmed by Activision. So while TheGhostOfHope has a solid track record in the COD scene, it’s always wise to take these early details with a pinch of salt.
In related news, the same leaker also claims that Black Ops 7 is dropping on November 14, 2025, so players won’t have to wait too long for more action — even before COD 2027 rolls around.
