Nigerian content creator and musician Carter Efe has now become Africa’s most-followed streamer on Twitch after a record-breaking livestream with Afrobeats superstar Davido.


The milestone was achieved during a high-profile session on Wednesday night, where Davido joined Carter Efe for a three-hour broadcast that quickly went viral across multiple platforms.


The stream peaked at over 83,000 concurrent viewers, setting a new benchmark for African creators on Twitch. By the end of the broadcast, Carter Efe’s channel had crossed 400,000 followers, cementing his position at the top of the continent’s streaming scene.

According to TVC News, Carter Efe gained more than 160,000 new followers in just four days leading up to and following the event. His subscriber count also surged past 20,000, making him the first African streamer to reach that milestone.


The livestream itself was packed with memorable moments. Davido connected Carter Efe with several high-profile figures, including nightlife mogul Cubana Chief Priest and Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen. At one point, Davido even called on Twitch CEO Dan Clancy to secure Carter Efe a million-dollar deal.


Content creator Enzo also made an unexpected appearance, humorously challenging Carter Efe to a boxing match to prove his loyalty to Davido’s 30BG fan base.


As of Thursday, Carter Efe’s Twitch account had surpassed 422,000 followers, with subscriptions still climbing.


Supporters credit his grassroots presence and Davido’s willingness to support emerging talent as key factors behind the achievement.
