The Citizen Sleeper games have officially surpassed 2 million players—a major milestone for the acclaimed indie RPG series developed by Jump Over the Age.
“It’s been three years since Citizen Sleeper first invited us into its hauntingly beautiful world of drifting space stations, corporate collapse, and the desperate hope of those who try to survive between the cracks,” the team shared via a Steam community post.
Alongside the milestone news, Jump Over the Age revealed some fun and fascinating player stats from both games in the series—offering a snapshot of the diverse choices fans have made.
In the original Citizen Sleeper:
26% of players joined a commune
19% brewed bootleg mushroom booze
6% connected with the mysterious fungal network
1.5% left Lem and Mina behind to fly off solo (a move the devs cheekily called a "monster" decision)
In Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector:
29% adopted a stray cat
35% found luck with a glitched dice roll
18% let Surya turn their ship into a flying billboard
Just 1.5% completed the game on “dangerous” difficulty—earning the honorary title of “heroes”
Expanding the Sleeper Universe
The Citizen Sleeper universe is showing no signs of slowing down. Alongside the main games, Gareth Damian Martin, the solo developer behind Jump Over the Age, has released Spindlejack, a brand-new, free solo tabletop RPG.
Set in Far Spindle, a location familiar to fans of Starward Vector, Spindlejack puts players in the role of a courier navigating space station politics, building a rep, and scraping together cryo to survive. It’s a small but meaningful addition to a world that’s already rich with lore.
More Languages, More Sleepers
To further broaden its reach, Citizen Sleeper 2 will soon receive high-quality localization in French, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. This move aims to make the emotional, choice-driven journey accessible to even more players worldwide.
Launched on May 5, 2022, Citizen Sleeper introduced players to a dystopian, cyberpunk world where they control a "Sleeper"—a digitized human mind in a decaying synthetic body. The sequel, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, released on January 31, 2025, builds on that foundation with new mechanics and a broader universe.
Both titles are available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, with the sequel also featured on Xbox Game Pass.
To mark the anniversary, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is available at a 20% discount on Steam until May 14, giving new players a perfect excuse to jump in.
