Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has dropped a surprise gift for fans—a free DLC expansion released on December 12.
The update arrives just as the game’s historic sweep at The Game Awards, where it claimed 9 trophies, including Game of the Year. That record-breaking haul made it the most decorated title in TGA history, and the developers wasted no time in thanking their community with fresh content.
The expansion adds a mix of new areas, tougher challenges, customization options, and quality-of-life improvements.
The headline addition is Verso’s Drafts, a brand-new area located on the World Map next to Lumière. Accessible from Act III, players will need Esquie’s underwater ability to reach it. The area introduces new enemy encounters and surprises, giving explorers something fresh to sink their teeth into.
For those who’ve already conquered the main story, the Endless Tower now features harder variations of iconic boss battles. These encounters are designed to push late-game players even further, with new Luminas and weapons added to the mix.
The DLC also expands personalization. Every Expedition member now has new costumes, while a fully featured Photo Mode lets players capture their favorite moments directly from the pause menu. The new Lumina Sets system allows saving up to 50 loadouts.
Several tweaks make the game smoother to play. Players can now abandon battles mid-fight, remap controller inputs, and adjust HUD scaling. UI filters have been improved, and the addition of the “Old Key” quest item gives players another chance to collect all journals in a single run.
The game is now certified on Steam Deck and ROG Ally, with improved text legibility and fixes for lighting issues. Performance has been optimized, including proper VSync toggling and uncapped framerates on handheld devices.
