Capcom has officially confirmed that Devil May Cry 5 has sold over 10 million copies worldwide, making it the most successful title in the franchise to date.

Released in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, the game was met with critical acclaim and quickly became a fan favorite.

What really helped push the game past this major milestone—even years after launch—was the release of the Devil May Cry animated series on Netflix. The anime, which premiered on April 3, 2025, sparked a fresh wave of interest, pulling in new players and reigniting excitement among longtime fans.

According to Capcom, their strategy of expanding their franchises across multiple forms of media—what they call the “Single Content Multiple Usage” approach—has been a key factor in boosting Devil May Cry 5's continued success. The addition of a new playable character and some enhanced story content didn’t hurt either.

As reported by Eurogamer, the Netflix adaptation collected over 5.3 million views during its first week and earned a spot in the top 10 “Shows | English” category globally. It also stayed among Japan’s top 10 for seven consecutive days. The series stars Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante and features the late Kevin Conroy in one of his final roles as VP Baines. Its success led to a confirmation that a second season is already in development.

Devil May Cry 5 is now among the top 10 best-selling Capcom titles of all time. The franchise as a whole has sold over 33 million units since its debut in 2001, underscoring its long-lasting appeal.

As for Devil May Cry 6, Capcom hasn’t officially announced anything just yet. But considering how well the fifth game has done, it’s pretty likely we’ll see another entry down the line.

For now, the company’s attention is on other big titles like Monster Hunter Wilds, Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil: Requiem, and Pragmata.
