At the grand stage of the Game Awards 2025, Epic Games announced 2023’s mega hit Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy, completely free on the Epic Games Store for PC as part of holiday celebrations. But it looks like just the tip of the iceberg, as recent leaks suggest that Red Dead Redemption 2 could also be joining the giveaway lineup.

Epic Games’ annual Holiday Season Sale has become a tradition for PC gamers, offering free titles throughout December. This year, rumors point to a batch of 15 free games between December 11 and 31, with a combined value of nearly $300 at current prices—and closer to $500 if MSRP is considered.
The first confirmed freebie, Hogwarts Legacy, went live on December 11, surprising fans who didn’t expect such a high‑profile release to be included. Epic is now teasing a "mystery game" unlock on December 18 at 16:00 UTC, lining up perfectly with the leak.
Leaked Lineup of Free Games
According to leaks from the Chinese social media channel HXL, the rumored list features:
Hogwarts Legacy – Dec 11
Jurassic World: Evolution 2 – Dec 18
Desperados 3 – Dec 19
Total War: Warhammer – Dec 20
Tropico 5 – Dec 21
Chicken Police – Paint it Red! – Dec 22
Loop Hero – Dec 23
Lego Batman – Dec 24
Commander Keen – Dec 25
Farming Simulator 2022 – Dec 26
Slime Rancher 2 – Dec 27
Terraria – Dec 28
Detroit: Become Human – Dec 29
Mortal Kombat 11 – Dec 30
Red Dead Redemption 2 – Dec 31
The biggest highlight is Red Dead Redemption 2, rumored to go free on December 31. Alongside Detroit: Become Human, these titles would be massive giveaways. However, skepticism remains—especially since Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t currently available on the Epic Games Store, raising doubts about the full list’s authenticity.
Still, history shows Epic isn’t afraid of bold moves. Past giveaways have included Grand Theft Auto V, which shocked the community at the time. With Hogwarts Legacy already confirmed, fans are cautiously optimistic that at least part of the leak will prove true.
How to Claim the Free Games
It’s simple! Visit store.epicgames.com/free-games and claim each title during its availability period. Once claimed, the games are yours forever, permanently stored in your library. Hogwarts Legacy is currently available to claim until December 18, so don’t miss out.
