Epic Games Store Finally Adds Pre-Load Feature

The Epic Games Store has officially introduced pre-loading for games, a feature that players have been requesting since the platform launched.

Starting now, you can pre-load titles up to five days (120 hours) before release, ensuring they’re ready to play the moment they unlock.

For anyone who has used Steam, this won’t feel revolutionary. Valve’s platform has supported pre-loading for years. But for Epic users, it’s a welcome addition. After all, being able to download a game in advance means you don’t have to spend launch day staring at a progress bar. Instead, you can come home, sit down, and jump straight into the action.

The update was confirmed on the official Epic Games forum, where the team explained that pre-loading will work through an encrypted build. It’s only available for games with an "approved pre-purchase offer live on the store." In other words, the developer or publisher has to allow players to buy the game before launch.
