Evo Japan 2025 street fighter event

Evo Japan 2025 has concluded with champions crowned across multiple fighting games. The prestigious tournament, held at Tokyo's Big Sight East Exhibition Halls from May 9-11, 2025, showcased intense competition with thousands of players battling for titles and prize money.


Street Fighter 6


In the headlining Street Fighter 6 tournament, MenaRD (Blanka, Zangief) successfully defended his championship from last year.


Nearly 6,500 players competed for $24,000 and a Capcom Cup 12 invitation.


MenaRD's path to victory included a close 3-2 win against Ryukichi in the upper bracket finals, followed by a more decisive 3-1 victory in the grand finals.

Tekken 8


Fighting game legend Knee (Bryan) secured his fourth Evo title with an impressive performance. He defeated Mulgold 3-2 in a tense grand finals after Mulgold fought through the losers' bracket for a rematch.


The prize pool was ¥2,750,000 JPY, split among the top 8.

Daru_I-No achieved his first Evo championship while playing his namesake character. His top 8 performance was particularly dominant, winning three straight 3-0 series.

Kasausagi emerged victorious in the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising tournament.

The King of Fighters XV


ET defended his 2024 title, earning his third overall Evo championship with a 3-1 win over his Falcons teammate mok.

This was the last time KOF XV featured as a main title at Evo, to be replaced by Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.


Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves


Though not an official main game, SNK ran a 256-player Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves tournament with an invitation to the $2.5 million 2025 SNK World Championships at stake.


Xiaohai claimed victory with a 3-1 win over Fenritti in the finals.

Street Fighter III 3rd Strike


As part of the 19th Cooperation Cup, a five-on-five team tournament running since 2002, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike made its first appearance at Evo Japan. Team 3rd Monster (featuring SHO, BOSS, Mimora, Michael-tan, and Yomoda) took first place.

Virtua Fighter 5 REVO


The 19th Beat-Tribe Cup for Virtua Fighter 5 REVO was won by team US Hospital, consisting of Reorao, Entan, MarukomeX, Osage, and Tonchan.

Evo Japan marks the beginning of the fighting game community's summer circuit of major events that continues through Evo 2025 in August.


All 8 tournaments have a total prize pool of ¥15,000,000 JPY (approximately £79,400), with individual game pools based on the number of entrants, distributed among the top 8 finishers.


The event also features side tournaments that include titles like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Vampire Savior, and Tekken Ball.


The event also features announcements from major publishers, including Fahkumram for Tekken 8, Unika for Guilty Gear Strive, Galleon for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, and a Street Fighter x Overwatch collaboration. A playable Elena demo for Street Fighter 6 was showcased.
