CD Projekt has alerted fans about fraudulent invitations to a supposed beta test for The Witcher 4, confirming that these messages are scams targeting eager players.

The gaming studio issued a clear warning through their social media channels after receiving multiple reports from community members who had been contacted about participating in a beta test for the upcoming game.

"Recently, we've been getting reports from some community members that they've been invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4 - this is a scam!" the company stated firmly.

According to CD Projekt, they are actively working to combat these deceptive messages. "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down," they explained, while urging players who encounter such invites to report them immediately using the tools available in their email clients or on social media platforms.

The existence of such scams isn't particularly surprising, as The Witcher 4 was only officially announced last December and isn't scheduled for release until sometime after 2026. This timeline makes any current beta testing highly implausible.

CD Projekt added a touch of humor to their warning, noting that "professional monster slayers don't fall for scams; they see right through them and slay them!" – a clever reference to the monster-hunting theme of the popular game series.

The studio did clarify that legitimate beta tests might happen in the future, but emphasized that any authentic testing opportunities would be announced "via our official social media and websites" first.

As reported in recent financial updates, The Witcher 4 has moved into full production, though it represents just one of several projects currently under development at CD Projekt. The company recently shared updates on these other endeavors, including the Witcher spin-off Project Sirius, which remains in pre-production, and The Witcher 1 remake, announced in October 2022, which is still in its concept phase.

With 411 people currently working on The Witcher 4 and a release not expected until 2027 at the earliest, fans will need to exercise patience – and vigilance against scammers attempting to exploit their enthusiasm for the highly anticipated game.
