Fallout's second season will be released in December 2025, as filming is about to end this month.
This exciting announcement comes from Kilter Films and Prime Video itself, who have already renewed the post-apocalyptic hit for a third season.
The first season of Fallout premiered on April 10, 2024, earning positive reviews from both gamers and critics worldwide.
The show was a massive success, gathering 65 million viewers in just its first two weeks on the streaming platform.
Season 2 will continue following the adventures of The Ghoul (played by Walton Goggins), Lucy (Ella Purnell), and Maximum (Aaron Moten) as they journey to New Vegas. This setting will be familiar to fans of the video game series, as it was featured in the popular 2010 game "Fallout: New Vegas" developed by Obsidian Entertainment.
According to previous leaks, the upcoming season will introduce iconic factions from the game universe, such as Caesar's Legion, along with terrifying mutated creatures like the notorious Deathclaw.
"We are absolutely thrilled that viewers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout," said Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM's global head of television. He praised the creative team, saying, "Jonathan, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video."
The show is produced by Kilter Films, the production company led by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, working alongside Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, the developers behind the original Fallout games.
Fans can expect trailers around October, a meaningful time in the Fallout universe as it marks both the anniversary of the first game's release and the fictional date when the nuclear bombs fell in the game's storyline.
Last year, we saw the TV adaptation greatly increase interest in the Fallout game series. Reports show that Fallout 76's player count rose from 17 million to over 20 million shortly after the show premiered. During that period, daily active users across various Fallout titles surged by 600%, with Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 becoming two of the top seven first-party games on Xbox Game Pass.
Fallout Shelter's daily revenue reached $80,000, while in Europe in April 2024, Fallout 4 claimed the top spot.
Bethesda’s Todd Howard even noted that this level of engagement is beyond anything he’s seen in his 30-year career.
It’s fascinating how a well-executed adaptation can breathe new life into a franchise. Are you excited for the next season of Fallout? Let me know in the comments.
