A Wolfenstein TV series is reportedly in development at Amazon MGM Studios, and fans are already buzzing with excitement — not just about the show itself, but about who should portray the legendary Nazi-slayer B.J. Blazkowicz.
The report, published just yesterday by Variety, reveals that the adaptation is still in its early stages, with few confirmed details. However, the creative team behind it is already turning heads. Station Eleven creator Patrick Somerville is set to serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, while Fallout duo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of Kilter Films are also on board. That team-up alone has fans optimistic about the direction of the series.
One line from the reported logline — “The story of killing Nazis is evergreen” — was enough to light up social media. Fans wasted no time imagining how this brutal alternate-history universe might look in live action. But more than anything, they’re focused on casting the role of B.J. Blazkowicz — and one name continues to dominate the discussion: Alan Ritchson.
The Reacher actor has already become the fan-favorite to play the stoic, muscular hero of the series. As soon as the news broke, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their support. One wrote, “If Wolfenstein is being turned into a TV series, the only sensible choice to play Bad Billy Blazkowicz is Alan Ritchson. Who else would you want to see punching out Nazis?”
Others echoed the sentiment with passionate, if blunt, support. “There is only 1 person born for this,” said one user. Another added, “Dude was actually built for the role lol,” while someone else declared, “Seriously, if Alan Ritchson isn't B.J., I'm just not watching it.”
Of course, whether that casting dream can come true is another story. Ritchson’s schedule is filling up quickly. He’s currently starring in The Man With the Bag alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, set to premiere in late 2025. After that, he's committed to War Machine in 2026 and is also expected to return for Reacher Season 4 the same year.
Still, the momentum behind the fan campaign is impossible to ignore. “The Man to play B.J. Blazkowicz. DO NOT F** THIS UP,”* one fan urged, while another simply said, “Perfect Terror Billy.”
The Wolfenstein series — originally debuting in the 1980s and revived by MachineGames in the 2010s — takes place in a twisted version of history where Nazi Germany won World War II. Players take on the role of B.J., a grizzled American soldier leading the resistance and dismantling the regime with brute force, underground tech, and plenty of explosive action.
With Amazon doubling down on video game adaptations following the huge success of Fallout — also produced by Kilter Films — the decision to bring Wolfenstein to Prime Video seems like a logical next move. The company is also working on Mass Effect, God of War, and Warhammer 40,000, further expanding its game-based universe.
As of now, casting decisions are still a long way off. But fans have spoken — and they're already imagining Alan Ritchson in the role, wielding a hatchet and mowing down fascists in classic B.J. fashion.
Who do you think should play B.J. Blazkowicz if not Alan Ritchson — or is he the only right choice?
