Level-5 has announced that Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will receive a major free DLC update -- "Update the World" -- that adds a roguelike open-world mode, new features, and several extras for players across all platforms.
The update, currently in development, expands on the game’s original life sim and RPG elements.
This update will rework the existing Ginormosia area into what Level-5 calls an “evolved version,” blending roguelike and open-world systems. Although the studio hasn’t gone into detail about how exactly this new mode will function, the idea of mixing dungeon-style randomization with the game’s cozy, job-switching formula is definitely a bold step.
Beyond the gameplay changes, the update will include powerful gear, stylish outfits, new mounts, and even quirky items — although no, the long-rumored “telephone made of butts” hasn’t been confirmed just yet. The DLC will also introduce more ways for players to personalize their avatars, with fresh hairstyles and emotes on the way.
In terms of story additions, a brand-new character is set to make their debut with the update.
The update doesn’t yet have a firm release date, but Level-5 says it’s working to deliver it “as soon as possible.”
Part of the motivation behind this generous free content drop likely comes from the game’s commercial success. Since launching in late May, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. To celebrate the milestone, Level-5 is distributing a commemorative gift code that unlocks an exclusive in-game item, along with a special Pegasus Mount.
That said, the Pegasus giveaway didn’t go entirely smoothly. Some players on PlayStation and PC accidentally received a Unicorn instead of the promised Pegasus due to a version error. The company acknowledged the mix-up and corrected it in version 1.3.2, released on June 13.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is available now on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
