Final Fantasy XIV Mobile Launching in China This June, Two Months Ahead of Schedule

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is launching in China this month—two months earlier than originally scheduled.

The new release window was confirmed through a teaser video on Chinese platform Bilibili, as first reported by GameSpark. The game was previously slated for August 29, 2025.

A Decade-Old MMORPG, Reimagined for Mobile

Developed by Tencent’s LIGHTSPEED Studios in partnership with Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is a standalone adaptation of the globally popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, which originally launched in 2013 and remains active on PC and consoles.

The project is being overseen by Naoki Yoshida, the original director and producer of FFXIV, ensuring that the mobile version stays faithful to the core vision of the game.

According to early details, the mobile edition is specifically designed for short, on-the-go play sessions, while preserving key gameplay pillars such as story progression, combat mechanics, and endgame content.

However, the mobile title is entirely separate from the main game, with no cross-play or shared progression between platforms.

China-First Launch Strategy

Pre-registrations for FFXIV Mobile are now open, but no word has been given on a global release window. For now, the focus remains on the Chinese market, where Tencent’s infrastructure and player base offer a strong testbed for the MMORPG’s mobile ambitions.
