Fortnite Leak Suggests Real Superpowers Could Arrive Next Season

New leaks suggest that Fortnite might finally let players wield actual superhero abilities in battle, marking a major shift from how the game has traditionally handled comic and anime crossovers.

Hero Abilities Coming Soon?

According to trusted Fortnite leaker HypeX, Epic Games is working on a feature called “Hero Abilities,” which could debut as early as next season.

Unlike previous limited-time superpowers such as Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet or Deku’s Smash, these new abilities would be more persistent and integrated into core gameplay.

“Hero Abilities are coming next season and will be part of the loot pool,” HypeX tweeted.

How They’ll Work: Loot-Based Powers with Tiers

The leak indicates that Hero Abilities will operate similarly to abilities in hero shooters, meaning players could build strategies around special powers in addition to using traditional weapons.

• “Regular Tier” abilities will appear as floor loot

• “High Tier” abilities will be exclusive to chests and supply drops

This system would introduce a power gradient, letting players mix and match powers based on what they find during a match.

New Characters and Themes

The leak also included concept art of original Fortnite characters dressed in superhero-themed outfits. These characters shared a common black color palette with a star motif, hinting at a possible new in-game faction or event storyline.

This could indicate Epic is developing a fully original superhero theme, potentially independent of major franchises like Marvel or DC.

A Shift in Superhero Gameplay Philosophy

Until now, Fortnite’s superhero skins—from Superman to Naruto—have mostly been cosmetic, often creating humorous disconnects when powerful characters are forced to rely on guns.
