Epic Games has officially announced a collaboration between Fortnite and South Park, set to launch on January 9, 2025.
The announcement came on January 6 through Fortnite's official social media channels, featuring an image of Butters playing the game alongside the cryptic message "Chaos, loading…"
Rumors about South Park joining Fortnite first surfaced back in October 2025. According to reports by reliable sources like HYPEX and ShiinaBR, this collaboration is shaping up to be way more than just a few skins in the Item Shop.
We're looking at multiple skins featuring the main South Park kids—Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny—all piloting mech suits to match Fortnite's scale. This approach makes sense when you consider how Epic handled similar collabs with characters like Morty from Rick and Morty or Bart from The Simpsons.
And speaking of that teaser image, the reference to "Chaos" has fans speculating that Butters, or rather his alter ego Professor Chaos, might be getting some special treatment as either a highlighted skin or possibly even the rumored limited-time boss.
Early leaks also point to a Mythic weapon called the Stick of Truth, which reportedly has the ability to modify the storm circle—either pushing it back or altering it for strategic advantages.
Here's the game-changer that nobody saw coming. Epic has used this collaboration to introduce Quints, an all-new five-player playlist that'll be available exclusively during the South Park event. This is huge for the Fortnite community, as players have been requesting larger party sizes for literally years now. The Quints mode will run from January 9 through February 5, giving players nearly a month to experience battle royale with that extra squad member.
There's also talk of a Rift Anomaly dubbed "Everyone Kills Kenny," which is an absolutely perfect nod to the show's running gag. Players might see Respawn Tokens or Medallions tied to Kenny's infamous recurring deaths, at least one boss NPC on the map, and some unknown consumables that'll probably tie into the chaos theme.
Epic has confirmed that the Born in Chaos pass will be completely free for all players. This is a departure from previous mini passes that typically required purchase and included exclusive skins. However, there's a catch—the South Park character outfits won't be part of the free pass. Instead, players will need to purchase them directly from the Item Shop when they become available.
It's worth noting that while The Simpsons got an entire mini-season with map changes, South Park will likely play out more like a traditional collaboration since we're in the middle of Chapter 7, Season 1.
The January 9 update also marks the end of Winterfest, so Epic is clearly looking to keep the momentum going with fresh content. Exact details about shop items and pricing should start leaking once the servers go down for maintenance, with an official blog post or social media announcement likely following shortly after.
