Epic Games has officially announced a price increase for Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks, set to take effect on March 19.
The company confirmed the changes via a blog post on March 10, citing rising operational costs as the reason behind the decision.
Simply put, players will now be getting fewer V-Bucks for the same amount of money across all available packs.
Here is a breakdown of the updated V-Bucks pricing:
$8.99 Pack: 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
$22.99 Pack: 2,400 V-Bucks (previously 2,800)
$36.99 Pack: 4,500 V-Bucks (previously 5,000)
$89.99 Pack: 12,500 V-Bucks (previously 13,500)
Exact Amount Pack: $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks (previously around $0.49 for 50)
In an official statement, Epic said: "The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and we're raising prices to help pay the bills."
It’s a blunt admission from a company that reportedly made over $6 billion in gross revenue in 2025. Whether or not that justifies the move is a different conversation, but the changes are coming regardless.
To soften the blow a little, Epic is offering a 20% cashback through Epic Rewards on purchases made via the Epic Games Store or Epic's own payment system across PC, iOS, Android, and web. According to the company, that credit can be used in Fortnite, other Epic titles, or on the Epic Games Store at checkout.
The Battle Pass is also seeing adjustments. It will now cost 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000, and upon full completion, players will earn back 800 V-Bucks. Previously, completing the pass rewarded 1,000 V-Bucks plus an additional 500 in Bonus Rewards.
The other passes are being updated as well. The OG Pass drops to 800 V-Bucks from 1,000, while both the Music Pass and LEGO Pass come down to 1,200 V-Bucks each, from 1,400.
Fortnite Crew subscribers are also affected, with the monthly V-Bucks grant dropping from 1,000 to 800. Epic noted that Crew subscribers will receive an email with specific timing details for their region.
One thing worth noting for those holding physical V-Bucks gift cards: cards already in circulation will still redeem at their original value. The new rates will only apply to freshly printed and distributed cards going forward.
