Games Workshop Rewards Staff with £20M Bonus as Warhammer Revenue Hits Record High

Games Workshop warhammer

It’s another blockbuster year for Games Workshop, and the staff are reaping the benefits.

The Nottingham-based company behind the Warhammer universe has announced a £20 million (approx. $27 million) bonus payout for its staff, following another record-breaking financial year.

The bonus, a £2 million increase over last year, will be distributed equally among employees—estimated at around 1,500—resulting in £13,333 (approx. $18,000) per person.

Financial Performance Soars

For the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, Games Workshop reported:

  • Core revenue: £560 million (up from £494.7 million)

  • Licensing revenue: £50 million (up from £31 million)

  • Core profit: £210 million (up from £174.8 million)

  • Licensing profit: £45 million (up from £27 million)

  • Profit before tax: £255 million (up from £203 million)

The company credited its workforce for driving these results, saying the bonus reflects their vital contribution.

More Than Just Miniatures

While Games Workshop’s heart remains in miniature wargaming, particularly through Warhammer 40,000, the company’s intellectual property (IP) expansion strategy is bearing fruit.

Last year’s smash hit Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, alongside animated content like Amazon’s Secret Level episode, helped push licensing revenue to record levels.

The Amazon partnership—which includes Henry Cavill’s Warhammer Cinematic Universe—is expected to play a major role in the brand’s long-term media ambitions.

A third Space Marine title is also reportedly in development.

What’s Next for the Warhammer Empire?

Despite the strong performance, Games Workshop has tempered expectations for licensing revenue in 2025/26, noting that this year’s record may not be repeated. Still, licensing remains a “core focus,” with the Warhammer IP now more mainstream than ever.

The company recently hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, revealing:

As Warhammer continues to evolve from niche tabletop pastime to global multimedia franchise, Games Workshop shows no signs of slowing down.
