Space Marine 2 June Update: Horde Survival Mode, New Chapter Packs, and Long-Term Content Plans

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is getting a big free update on June 26, and it’s bringing along Siege Mode—a brand-new co-op survival experience for all players.

In this new mode, you and two other players will dive into intense, horde-style action as you defend an Imperial Fortress on the planet Kadaku. Expect non-stop waves of Tyranid and Chaos enemies that only get tougher the longer you survive.

Speaking with IGN, Tim Willits from Saber Interactive shared how Siege Mode works. The cool part? You can use your current Space Marines from Operations mode, complete with all your unlocked gear and progress. So whether you're a seasoned veteran or just getting started, you’ll get to enjoy Siege Mode without losing anything.

If the fortress looks familiar, that's because it is. According to Willits, it’s the same location from the campaign’s opening mission—the one where Titus and his squad reactivated an antenna. But in Siege Mode, you’ll get access to new areas within the stronghold that weren’t available before.

One of the coolest new features is the ability to call in Brother Valtus, a massive Redemptor Dreadnought from the Ultramarines 2nd Company. You won’t be able to control him directly, but you can summon this mechanical beast when things get really chaotic. He’s a game-changer when you’re surrounded and outgunned.

The enemy waves will be organized strategically—Tyranids and Chaos forces won’t show up at the same time. Instead, they’ll hit you in alternating waves, and as time goes on, expect everything from small grunts to boss-level Terminus creatures to show up all at once.

If you’re eager to jump in early, good news: PC and Steam players can check out Siege Mode through the Public Test Server starting June 4.

On top of the intense gameplay, Siege Mode brings exclusive cosmetics—similar to the rewards from Absolute difficulty missions. You’ll also earn the usual progression goodies like Armory Data, Requisition Points, and XP based on how well you do.

There’s also more in store for season pass holders, with two fresh DLC packs:

  • The White Scars Chapter Pack features badass Assault class skins, three custom weapon skins, and new cosmetic options with chapter heraldry.

  • The Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack delivers fresh armor pieces usable by all classes, plus heraldry that pays tribute to eight of the Blood Angels' successor chapters.

As for the three-player limit in Siege Mode? That’s a deliberate choice. Saber Interactive says having four Space Marines made things too easy, and adjusting the difficulty for more players caused technical issues. So, three it is—for now.

Looking further down the road, Season 4 is shaping up to bring even more: a brand-new PvP mode, additional Chaos enemies, and plenty of balance tweaks to class abilities and difficulty settings. The devs also teased a new playable class—though they’re keeping the details under wraps for now.

And here’s the best part: support for Space Marine 2 won’t stop anytime soon. Saber Interactive plans to roll out more missions, weapons, classes, and updates well beyond the first year. So, expect a steady stream of fresh content for months to come.
