The wait for Ghost of Yotei is almost over. Sony has confirmed that the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive will roll out globally on October 2, 2025, using a midnight local time release.
That means the moment your clock strikes 12:00 AM in your time zone, you can jump straight into the adventure, no synchronized global unlock.
This staggered approach also means some players will get in earlier than others. If you’re in New Zealand, you’ll be among the very first to ride through Yotei’s cherry blossom fields, while those on the U.S. West Coast will be starting hours later.
Here’s the city‑by‑city launch timing based on the midnight local release schedule (times confirmed via the PlayStation Store and regional listings):
Because it’s a local midnight unlock, you don’t need to calculate time zone conversions; just be ready when the date flips in your region.
When it comes to editions, you’ve got options. The Standard Edition will set you back $69.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition costs $79.99 and comes with a stack of extras including Snake Armor, a Sword Kit, early access to Traveler’s Maps, a Charm, a special armor dye, plus a unique horse and saddle.
For collectors, there’s also a limited-edition PS5 bundle featuring a themed console, matching DualSense controller, and a full game voucher, priced at $599.99. Pre-orders for that are now opened.
Review embargo lifting soon on Thursday, September 25, 2025. This date was confirmed by multiple sources, including industry figure Geoff Keighley, who shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he received his review copy and noted the global embargo timing.
Preloading is expected to begin 48 hours before, based on standard PlayStation Store practices for major PS5 exclusives. This points to a likely preload start date of September 30, 2025, at around 12:00 AM local time for digital pre-orders.
