Obsidian previously noted that only a small portion of the map is currently accessible, so these hidden updates could unlock entirely new biomes.

Early Impressions and Community Feedback
Grounded 2 has a good start so far. On launch day, it hit a peak of 49,836 concurrent players, surpassing the original’s all-time record, as per SteamDB. It currently holds a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of the 5k user reviews marked positive. Early criticism mainly pointed out optimization and performance issues — common hurdles for Early Access games.
Still, the general sentiment from critics has been optimistic. IGN rated it 8/10, praising it as "a stellar starting point, despite a rocky technical performance," while GameSpot gave it 7/10, noting it establishes "a much stronger foundation for the future."
Whether you're hopping in now or planning to wait for the full launch, Grounded 2 already shows signs of becoming a much deeper and more polished survival adventure — and the roadmap gives plenty of reasons to stick around.
