A fresh rumor about Grand Theft Auto VI has fans buzzing, and it’s all about the game’s length. While most players expected Rockstar’s next big release to be somewhere in the 30–50 hour range, similar to GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, new chatter suggests we might be in for something much bigger.
According to GTA 6 Updates, the game’s story could take around 75 hours to complete. That’s a hefty jump compared to Rockstar’s past titles. The tricky part is figuring out whether this number is for the main story alone or if it includes side activities. If it’s purely the mainline content, then GTA 6 could easily become Rockstar’s longest game to date.
For comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 — famous for its rich world and detailed missions — took about 50 hours to mainline. Throw in side quests and exploration, and players easily pushed beyond 80–100 hours. If GTA 6 truly locks in 75 hours just for its main story, fans are looking at an even deeper experience.
The rumor also outlines how this massive playtime is structured. Allegedly, the game is divided into 5 chapters plus a prologue. The prologue alone is said to last 2 hours, while the first chapter runs about 6. After that, things get much meatier: chapter two reportedly takes 13 hours, chapter three about 16, and chapter four a whopping 22. The final chapter supposedly wraps up at 16 hours, giving the narrative a serious sense of scale.
Of course, Rockstar hasn’t confirmed anything like this, and given how secretive they are with major projects, it’s unlikely they’ll comment anytime soon. Still, the rumor has added fuel to the hype train, and fans are now speculating if GTA 6 might set a new benchmark for open-world storytelling.
