GTA 6 Rumored to Hit 60FPS on PS5 Pro Thanks to Help from PlayStation Engineers

There’s a fresh wave of buzz around GTA 6 — and this time, it’s not about the setting or characters, but how smooth the game might run on Sony’s upcoming PS5 Pro.

According to a widely shared post by X (formerly Twitter) user Detective Seeds, Rockstar is reportedly working closely with PlayStation engineers to optimize GTA 6 for the PS5 Pro, and it’s already running at a stable 60 frames per second across multiple graphics settings.

The claim doesn’t stop there. Seeds, who has a history of leaking fairly accurate gaming info, says the collaboration is part of a larger Rockstar/PlayStation marketing deal. This deal is apparently what's making such deep technical cooperation possible, with the goal of showcasing GTA 6 at its best on Sony’s hardware.

“As of right now, 60fps is being achieved on the PS5 Pro only,” Seeds wrote. “It is anticipated that GTA 6 will have multiple graphical options on the PS5 Pro on release.” He also hinted at upcoming PS5 Pro + GTA 6 bundle promotions, expected to be part of Sony's next big marketing push.

While none of this has been confirmed officially by either Rockstar or Sony, it doesn’t sound too far-fetched. The second GTA 6 trailer was captured on a standard PS5, which already pointed to some sort of partnership behind the scenes. Plus, Sony and Rockstar have always had a pretty solid working relationship — remember those exclusive GTA IV add-ons?

Adding a bit more weight to the rumor, Detective Seeds claims this insider is the same person who tipped him off earlier about Sony’s new PSSR upscaling tech, which system architect Mark Cerny mentioned in a recent explainer video. That tech is expected to roll out next year for the PS5 Pro, making the timing feel right.

Of course, not every tip from this source has been perfect. As Push Square spotted, Seeds once predicted that Oblivion Remastered would launch on April 3 — it arrived on April 22. And he claimed Gears of War Reloaded wouldn’t have multiplayer, which turned out to be false. But to be fair, leaks don’t always age well in game development, where plans shift constantly.

Interestingly, this rumored tech support from PlayStation might not be limited to just GTA 6. Seeds says Sony engineers are also helping out with other Rockstar projects, possibly including a next-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2 and a GTA 4 port, both of which could land before a major PS5 Pro update planned for May 2026.

For now, everything remains unofficial. These are still rumors, and as the original poster himself admits, things could change before launch.
