GTA 6 Trailer Shatters Viewership Records with Almost 500 Million Views in 24 Hours

On May 6, 2025, Rockstar dropped the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, and the internet practically exploded.

Within 24 hours, the trailer pulled in a jaw-dropping 475 million views across all social media platforms—setting a new record for the biggest video launch in internet history.

To put that into perspective, it crushed the previous record held by the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, which had 365 million views in its first day.

And it absolutely dwarfed GTA 6’s first trailer from 2023, which “only” had 93 million day-one views. That’s a 400%+ jump—and a clear sign the hype around GTA 6 is nothing short of nuclear.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rockstar has dubbed the reveal “the biggest video launch of all time,” and honestly, that’s hard to argue with.

A Win for Music Too

The trailer didn’t just boost viewership numbers—it gave an unexpected jolt to The Pointer Sisters’ 1986 track “Hot Together,” which soundtracked the video. Thanks to the trailer’s exposure, the song saw a mind-blowing 182,000% increase in streams on Spotify.

"Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else," said Sulinna Ong, Spotify's global head of editorial. "Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it's great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way."

What’s New in the Trailer?

This latest look at GTA 6 gives fans a deeper dive into the vibrant, chaotic world of Leonida—Rockstar’s take on Florida. It showcases new characters, over-the-top activities, and plenty of the satirical, crime-infused energy fans have come to expect.

However, Rockstar already confirmed a delay, pushing the release date back to May 26, 2026. It’s a blow for fans who were holding out hope for a 2025 drop, but given what we’ve seen so far, most seem ready to wait just a little longer.

Billion-Dollar Game, Billion-Dollar Expectations

With over $1 billion reportedly invested in development, Rockstar clearly isn’t playing around. But it all makes sense when you remember that GTA 5 has generated nearly $10 billion in revenue since its 2013 launch.

Analysts are already calling GTA 6 the biggest entertainment product in the pipeline—not just in gaming, but across movies, TV, and streaming. Every piece of news, every frame of new footage, every character reveal sends the community into a frenzy.

And if the current viewership pace continues, Trailer #2 might become the most-watched video in internet history, period.
