GTA 6 is just months away, and fans can't stop guessing what's new in "the largest game launch in history."
Recently, on the GTA 6 subreddit, fans shared ideas for features they’d love to see in Rockstar’s highly anticipated open-world sequel, with responses ranging from practical quality-of-life suggestions to wildly ambitious dreams.
While some players focused on realism and immersion, others leaned toward fun, chaos, and deeper customization.

Smarter AI and Evolving Police Systems
One of the most common requests revolves around improving GTA’s long-standing wanted system. User English_Breakfast123 kicked things off by asking for an overhaul of gameplay mechanics and AI responsiveness.
“The main thing I'm after is an overhaul of the gameplay mechanics and the way A.I. reacts. GTA games have been the same basic formula — cops show up almost instantly. I wish there was more ways to escape and ways for the game to respond to how you play. For example, in Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain, if you always kill with headshots, enemies will start wearing helmets.”
User Geovercetti agreed, suggesting Rockstar adopt something closer to Red Dead Redemption 2’s wanted system.
"I'd love it if they implemented RDR2's wanted mechanic. For example, the area where you committed a crime turns into a temporary no-go zone. Instead of artificial difficulty where cops just spawn out of thin air, make the chases more realistic but have us deal with consequences instead which acts as its own kind of difficulty as you become wanted in these areas so if you go back cops recognise you and you get instant 4-5 stars. For example if you get 6 stars in Vice City than the entire area turns red and you have to stay out of the area for a while. Would be so cool if you end up seeing yourself in the news and wanted posters of you get put up."
Realism Meets Strategy: Cameras, Hostages, and Fuel
Other players took the realism angle further. User thatniqqaron imagined a world where surveillance cameras play a meaningful role in crime detection:
“After a while cops come after you because you robbed a store on camera with no mask, so it makes you be more strategic when committing crimes.”
Similarly, GeologistNo4115 reminisced about games that allowed players to take hostages during police chases, a feature seen in the original Saints Row trilogy.
Then there’s GlendrixDK, who proposed a fuel system, not full-on Simulator-level micromanagement, but just enough to create tension. “Let us run out of fuel. Let's have a car chase and panic because the car can't go anymore.” The player added that such a feature could be optional or adjustable, allowing for balance between realism and fun.
Others like iLikeRgg called for gang notoriety systems inspired by Saints Row and Watch Dogs 2, where rival gangs could hunt you down or place bounties on your head.
Customization Dreams: Homes, Cars, and Tattoos
Customizing your lifestyle in GTA Online has always been part of the fun, but some fans think Rockstar can go even deeper. User itsRobbie_ wants fully customizable house interiors, describing a system like The Sims or Animal Crossing:
“I want to do a hard achievement, like completing all heists in one sitting, and get rewarded with a 10-foot-tall gold statue that I can place in my apartment.”
Car customization also came up frequently. LiminalBrownRecluse said they’d love the ability to keep any car they find and make it their “personal vehicle,” complete with an insurance system like GTA Online’s.
Meanwhile, Tr3ybecker took customization to artistic extremes, suggesting a tattoo system that allows for precise placement, color, and text. “I want a customizable tattoo option where you can type out words in different fonts and put one under Lucia’s eye and another curved around her mouth.” Of course, as another commenter joked, the potential for misuse would make this feature a moderation nightmare but it’s hard to deny the appeal of that level of freedom.
Music, Weather, and Personal Touches
Music has always defined Grand Theft Auto, but Yessirkiii35 took it a step further, wishing for the ability to link Spotify, Apple Music, or Pandora accounts to the in-game radio. While some fans argued that Rockstar’s curated soundtracks are part of the franchise’s soul, personalized radio could make long drives through Vice City even more personal.
Others called for a deeper environmental experience, like TheBlueNinja2006’s idea for extreme weather, tide effects, and even sun tanning systems. It might sound over-the-top, but Red Dead Redemption 2 already showcased Rockstar’s attention to detail, so it’s not impossible. There are also rumors about water mechanics and tides, but it's too early to make any assumptions.
And then there are smaller, yet delightful touches. Mactastic4167 mentioned wanting to wear headphones outside vehicles to listen to music, something Watch Dogs already implemented. Given that leaked screenshots show Lucia wearing Bluetooth headphones, some fans think this one might actually be real.
The Fun Factor: Skateboards, Surfing, and Story Co-Op
Not every suggestion was about realism or systems. Some fans simply want more ways to have fun. kittenzmittenz420 requested skateboards, to which Geovercetti replied enthusiastically, hoping Rockstar will expand gimmicky vehicles. hortys added, “If Jason could skate and they had even a basic trick system, I’d spend an ungodly amount of time skating around Vice City looking for stair sets and ledges.”
Jinkesi proposed a surfing minigame, which fits perfectly with Vice City’s sunny, oceanfront setting.
Perhaps the most requested “new-old” feature came from Forgotmyaccountinfo2, who said simply: “Story co-op.” The idea of playing GTA 6’s campaign cooperatively with a friend resonated with many commenters, some comparing it to It Takes Two or Split Fictions. It’s not far-fetched, after all, Rockstar has already mastered large-scale multiplayer with GTA Online.
While Rockstar remains tight-lipped about GTA 6’s features, many of these fan suggestions line up with the studio’s evolving design philosophy one that’s increasingly focused on realism, consequence, and detail.
Now, we just have to wait until May 26, 2026, when GTA 6 finally arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series. Which of these features will make it? We’ll find out then.
