What Makes Honor of Kings Stand Out
For those unfamiliar with the game, Honor of Kings is a 5v5 MOBA where two teams battle to destroy each other's base.
The roster features over 100 heroes across roles like tank, mage, assassin, marksman, and support.
What sets it apart from many mobile titles is its focus on skill-based gameplay rather than pay-to-win mechanics.
For the Indian launch, reports indicate dedicated local servers for smoother, low-latency performance, along with localized voice-overs to make the experience more accessible. A new hero inspired by India is also in development, with a potential release set for June.
The Esports Scene
India has secured two slots at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Riyadh, with qualifiers expected to take place in April and May. The event runs from July 29 and features a $3 million prize pool.
Level Infinite is also reportedly mapping out a full esports plan for India, starting with grassroots tournaments that could lead to a pro league like Honor of Kings International League. Teams like S8UL and Revenant XSpark are also gearing up to reveal their lineups.
Creator Involvement
The marketing push has leaned heavily on India's gaming community. Big names like Mortal (Naman Mathur), Scout (Tanmay Singh), and Kaashvi have been part of the campaign, rallying their communities ahead of launch. There are also exclusive in-game items tied to these creators.
Level Infinite has also signaled its intent to support and nurture the local creator ecosystem over the long term.
