Imagine Dragons, best known for global hits like Radioactive and Enemy, are now stepping into the video game industry with their first project, Last Flag.

Surprisingly, the game has nothing to do with music. Instead, it’s a team-based multiplayer shooter that takes inspiration from childhood games of capture the flag and transforms it into a modern, chaotic competition.

The game is being developed under the band’s own studio, Night Street Games, founded by Dan Reynolds and Mac Reynolds. Officially revealed in 2023, Last Flag is scheduled for release sometime in 2026.

What is Last Flag about?

At its core, Last Flag is a 5v5 multiplayer shooter built around the classic Capture the Flag mode — but with a twist. Players aren’t restricted to placing their flag in a designated spot. Instead, they can hide it anywhere on the map. According to the developers, this freedom changes the battlefield completely, making each round unique.

The game is set in a televised competition where contestants bring their own stories and motivations. From a bounty hunter turned author to a soldier carrying a guitar in honor of his missing sister, Last Flag promises characters with surprising backstories beyond the action-packed gameplay.

Gameplay and design

In terms of visuals, Last Flag carries a colorful and slightly cartoonish style closer to Fortnite than Call of Duty. Players can expect a mix of conventional and unconventional weapons — ranging from shotguns and rifles to dual axes and bows. The game also introduces radar towers and other mechanics to balance the chaos of hiding and hunting for flags.

During Gamescom 2025, a new gameplay trailer showcased fast-paced combat, character abilities, and maps that highlight the game’s mix of strategy and action. Earlier teasers had already revealed characters like the Archer, Lumberjack, Scout, and Weapons Engineer, each with unique skills.

Platforms and availability

Currently, Last Flag is confirmed for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Console versions are planned, though they will arrive sometime after the initial PC launch.
