Co-op climbing game Peak has officially sold over one million copies within its first week on Steam. Despite its modest price and humble origins, the game has skyrocketed in popularity, driven almost entirely by community word of mouth, goofy internet memes, and its genuinely fun multiplayer design.

Developed in collaboration between Landfall (known for Clustertruck & Content Warning) and Aggro Crab (creators of Another Crab’s Treasure), Peak is exactly what it sounds like: a climbing game where players must work together to scale a mountain. Each day features a new randomized mountain route, cycling through four unique biomes with different weather conditions, encouraging replayability without needing constant content updates. It's essentially a nature hike—if that hike was full of falls, teamwork, and the occasional silly scout costume.

The game’s daily rotation system keeps things fresh, and at just $4.95 on Steam, it offers a lot of value. You can buy it for the price of a fancy coffee—and get enough entertainment for a full weekend (or more) with your friend group.

As per reports by SteamDB, the game achieved a peak player count of 102,799 on Sunday, June 22—a huge leap from 11,000 on launch day.

Even Aggro Crab seemed caught off guard. “Why did this stupid jam game sell more copies than Another Crab’s Treasure? I’m gonna crash out,” the studio tweeted, half-jokingly. For context, a "jam game" typically refers to a game built quickly during a game jam, where the focus is more on creativity and experimentation than commercial success.

Peak even has a quirky mascot named Bing Bong, who’s somehow become a fan favorite despite doing absolutely nothing useful in-game. Just being cute apparently does the trick.

As for console players eager to join the climb, Aggro Crab hasn’t confirmed anything just yet. When asked about a potential console release, the developers responded, “Too early to say… but hopefully!” So, while nothing's official, there’s a hint of optimism.
