InZOI's next major update, originally scheduled for September, has been delayed by a month and will now release in October alongside a planned gameplay update.
Krafton, the developer behind this rising life sim title, announced the delay in a recent Steam post. This update was highly anticipated by players eager to get their hands on more in-depth customization tools, especially those that expand the game's modding capabilities. However, fans will now need to wait a little longer as the studio adjusts its release schedule.
For those unfamiliar, InZOI is a life simulation game that debuted in March 2025 and quickly gained attention for positioning itself as a strong alternative to EA’s long-running The Sims franchise. While it saw an impressive start, 1 million sales in the first week and 87k CCU on Steam on debut, the player base has gradually declined due to limited post-launch content. That’s not unusual for Early Access titles, but it’s clearly something Krafton is actively trying to fix. For context, The Sims 4 currently peaked over 38k players in the last 24 hours, while InZoi has just over 2k players (via SteamDB).
Still, frequent updates and continued development indicate the studio remains committed to the long-term growth of the game. According to Krafton's roadmap, the postponed modding tools are set to include features that will allow players to modify character appearances—such as faces and hairstyles—as well as various building elements like doors, fences, windows, and pillars.
Perhaps the most exciting feature coming in October is the new support for creating custom interactions. This will include animations, voice work, conversations, and even interaction-based rewards, making it a significant leap forward for community creators.
However, not all of the originally promised features will make it into the upcoming patch. Krafton has confirmed that the planned UI editor has been dropped from the update. In a post, the studio explained that this decision was made "to ensure feature completeness, better alignment with the game's overall direction, and more consistent quality." Whether the UI editor makes a comeback in future updates remains uncertain, but the developers have promised to share more details closer to the October release.
In addition, Krafton has been gathering community feedback to shape InZOI’s direction going forward. As per recent reports, a player survey conducted by the studio highlighted areas of dissatisfaction, and it’s expected that these insights will inform upcoming patches. If handled right, the October update could be a turning point in rekindling interest among the game's early adopters.
