Krafton India has launched a new player survey for BGMI that's stirring up conversations about a potential lite version of the game and possible ad integration.
The survey rolled out on January 23, 2026, and it's pretty comprehensive. Players are being asked about everything from performance issues to monetization preferences, but what's really catching attention is the direct question about whether they want BGMI Lite.
This isn't just a casual inquiry either. Krafton has laid out specific options asking players if they want it badly due to device limitations, think it would be nice to have, or don't need it at all.
For context, this demand isn't coming out of nowhere. Ever since PUBG Mobile Lite shut down globally in 2021, Indian players using budget smartphones have been vocal about wanting a lighter alternative. The full version of BGMI works great if you have decent hardware, but it's become increasingly heavy with each update. Players on low-end devices are dealing with frame drops, heating issues, long load times, and storage problems that make the game frustrating to play.

What Could BGMI Lite Look Like
According to the survey questions, Krafton is exploring several features that would make BGMI Lite distinct from the main game. The potential features include:
20-player maps for quicker matches
Fast reload mechanics without attachment requirements
Temporary protective walls
Auto aim and auto fire options
Special purchasable powers for weapons and characters
These features point toward a faster, more casual gaming experience that's easier on device resources. It's basically the same concept that made PUBG Mobile Lite popular before it was discontinued.
The idea is to create something that runs smoothly on entry-level smartphones without demanding high-end specs.
The Ad Question Nobody Expected
Here's where things get interesting. The survey also asks about ad placements, which is new territory for BGMI. Players are being asked where they'd tolerate ads if BGMI Lite launches. The options include ads during matchmaking on Spawn Island, ads after matches end, or ads that reward players with coupon crates.
There's even a pricing question asking how much players would pay monthly to avoid ads entirely, starting from ₹50. This suggests Krafton might be considering an ad-supported free model for the lite version.
The survey data also covers esports interest, social features, Indian-themed content, and celebrity collaborations. Check out below:

For now, it's a waiting game. But after years of players requesting a lighter version, this survey suggests Krafton is finally taking that demand seriously.
