Killing Floor 3 Set to Launch on July 24 After Previous Delay

Killing Floor 3

Tripwire Interactive has announced that Killing Floor 3 will release on July 24, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC through both Steam and Epic Games Store.

The horror-action shooter was originally planned to launch in March this year but faced a delay as developers needed more time to address player feedback. Now fans of the popular zombie-slaying series have a firm date to look forward to.

"Since delaying the launch of Killing Floor 3, we've dedicated the additional development time to responding to the community's feedback, ensuring the next chapter in the much-loved cult action/horror franchise lives up to our shared vision," said Bryan Wynia, Creative Director at Tripwire Interactive.

The delay came after early testing showed that some elements needed more polish. According to Tripwire's statement in March, they had "missed the mark" in certain areas and wanted to deliver a more refined experience. During this extra development period, the team has been sharing regular updates with fans, showing improvements to design, artwork, user interface, and animations.

Set in the year 2091, Killing Floor 3 takes place 70 years after the events of Killing Floor 2. The story follows a world where the megacorporation Horzine has created an army of bioengineered monsters called Zeds. Players join a rebel group named Nightfall, working together to battle these creatures and save humanity.

The game supports six-player cooperative gameplay, maintaining the series' core focus on team-based survival against waves of increasingly difficult monsters. Players will collect cash after each wave, unlock new skills, and improve their weapons before facing the next challenge.

Tripwire has added several new features to refresh the gameplay experience. These include a comprehensive weapon modification system that lets players customize their arsenal to suit different playstyles. The Zeds have also been updated with more dynamic behaviors – Crawlers can now move across walls and ceilings, making them more unpredictable opponents.

Player movement has been enhanced with new abilities like dashing and climbing, giving survivors more options when escaping dangerous situations. Environmental traps have also been added as another strategic layer to the combat.

The game introduces new playable characters called Nightfall specialists, each offering unique skills and combat styles. One new enemy revealed in gameplay trailers is "The Impaler," joining returning favorites like the Crawlers and Fleshpounds that longtime fans will recognize.

Digital pre-orders, which were refunded after the initial delay, have now been reinstated across all platforms. Players can choose between the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, or Elite Nightfall Edition.

The Elite Nightfall Edition includes the "Shadow Agent" specialist and weapon skin sets, a Year 1 Premium Nightfall Supply Pass for future content, and 3,000 in-game credits. The Deluxe Edition offers similar items but with fewer credits and only one Supply Pass instead of four.

Tripwire has promised continued support beyond launch with new features and content updates, continuing their established pattern with previous games in the series.

With cross-play support confirmed, friends will be able to play together regardless of their chosen platform.
