Mafia: The Old Country, the next major entry in the Mafia franchise, is set to launch on August 7, 2025, at 10 PM PT, serving as a narrative prequel that transports players to the roots of organized crime in early 20th-century Sicily.

Developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K, this upcoming title is the fourth main installment in the Mafia series and aims to return to the series’ cinematic storytelling roots. Unlike the more open-world structure of Mafia III, The Old Country leans into a linear, story-focused approach, similar to the original Mafia titles.

Story, Setting, and Characters

Set in 1905 Sicily, the game unfolds in the fictional town of San Celeste — a location fans may recognize from Mafia II. The protagonist, Enzo Favara, is voiced by Riccardo Frascari, and begins his journey after escaping the harsh realities of forced labor in the sulfur mines.

Enzo’s path leads him into the ranks of the Torrisi crime family, where he navigates themes of honor, betrayal, loyalty, and sacrifice. The narrative has been compared to flashback sequences from The Godfather Part II, capturing the gritty rise of the Sicilian mob through a personal lens.

With a runtime of 10–20 hours, the game is designed for a more compact, cinematic experience — a deliberate move to avoid the “open-world fatigue” seen in previous entries.
