Key Highlight
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
The undeniable headline of this month's drop is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment, the game originally launched in September 2024 and quickly became one of the standout shooters of that year.
It puts players in the boots of Lieutenant Titus, an Ultramarine fighting off both Tyranid swarms and Chaos forces across a brutal third-person campaign. The gameplay rewards aggression, encouraging players to parry, chain kills, and execute enemies to restore their armor. Solo or with up to two friends in co-op, the scale of combat is genuinely impressive.
On OpenCritic, the game averaged an 85 score with 93% of critics recommending it. Over 4.5 million players jumped in early on, and post-launch updates have kept the community active. For Warhammer fans or anyone who simply enjoys large-scale horde action, this is a serious get.
EA Sports Madden NFL 26
EA Sports Madden NFL 26 is another major addition this month and arguably the biggest sports game to land on PS Plus in some time.
Developed by EA Tiburon and published by EA Sports, Madden 26 originally released in August 2025 and marked a meaningful turning point for a franchise that had faced years of criticism for stagnation. The most significant overhaul came to Franchise mode, which was rebuilt with expanded team management, skill trees, owner and coach creation, and long-term progression that gives it a genuine RPG-like depth.
On the field, an AI-powered machine-learning system trained on real NFL plays brings more explosive, player-specific animations and more responsive quarterback mechanics.
According to reviews, Metacritic scores sat around 77 on PS5, among the highest the series had seen in recent memory. IGN awarded it an 8/10, stating "Madden 26 feels confident... this is easily the best Madden in a long, long time." GameSpot echoed that sentiment, calling it "the best Madden in years" for finally pairing strong gameplay with a destination mode worth returning to.
The usual criticisms around Ultimate Team microtransactions still apply, but for subscribers picking it up through PS Plus, that sting is a lot easier to absorb.
Persona 5 Royal
Also joining the service is Persona 5 Royal, the definitive edition of Atlus's acclaimed JRPG. This one needs little introduction for RPG fans. Originally released on PS4 in 2020 and expanded to PS5 and other platforms in October 2022, Royal builds on the already celebrated base game by adding a new third-semester story arc, a new playable character in Kasumi Yoshizawa, and a host of quality-of-life improvements.
The game follows Joker and the Phantom Thieves navigating both the social pressures of high school life in Tokyo and the supernatural Metaverse, where they infiltrate the corrupt "palaces" of society's villains. Its blend of turn-based combat, Persona fusion, and meaningful relationship building has made it a modern classic.
Metacritic scores sit at 95 on PS4, earning universal acclaim.
PS Plus subscribers also get access to the Persona 5 Royal Ultimate Edition on PS4, which bundles all DLC including extra costumes, Personas, and bonus battle content.
Blasphemous 2
For those who enjoy darker, more punishing gameplay, Blasphemous 2 is a welcome addition. Developed by Spanish studio The Game Kitchen and published by Team17, it is a 2D souls-like Metroidvania set in the grotesque religious horror world of Cvstodia. The Penitent One returns with three distinct weapons, expanded platforming, and a denser interconnected world to explore.
The game carries a Metacritic score of around 84, and Steam reviews were Very Positive, hovering around 90%.
Metal Eden
Metal Eden is perhaps the most niche pick in this month's lineup. Developed by Reikon Games, the team behind Ruiner, and published by Deep Silver, it launched in September 2025 as a fast-paced sci-fi first-person shooter set in a cyberpunk orbital city called MOEBIUS.
The game is all about movement. Grappling hooks, wall-running, ziplines, and aerial boosts define the experience, making it feel like a spiritual successor to Titanfall for fans who have been hungry for that kind of kinetic FPS action.
The campaign is short at around five to six hours, and critics noted that the story does not break any new ground, but the movement and shooting feel tight and satisfying. Metacritic sits around 73, but Steam user reviews are Very Positive at 85%.
Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria rounds out the more niche side of the lineup. Developed by Free Range Games and published by North Beach Games, it is a co-op survival crafting game that puts players in the Mines of Moria as dwarves answering Gimli's call in Tolkien's Fourth Age.
The core loop involves mining, crafting, base-building, and pushing deeper into procedurally influenced caverns while fending off orcs and trolls.
It supports up to 8 players, and the experience genuinely shines in co-op. Critical reception was mixed at launch, with scores in the 59 to 65 range on Metacritic citing bugs and repetitive combat, but user scores have been notably higher, and post-launch patches have addressed a fair number of the early issues.
Astroneer
Astroneer, developed and published by System Era Softworks, fills the chill exploration slot this month. It is a sandbox adventure about terraforming colorful alien planets, crafting vehicles and bases, and exploring the unknown at your own pace. There is no hunger or survival pressure of the harsh variety.
The game has been around since its 1.0 launch in 2019 and maintains a dedicated community thanks to ongoing free updates. Co-op supports up to four players.
Tekken: Dark Resurrection
On the Premium tier, Sony is adding Tekken: Dark Resurrection. This is a classic 3D fighter originally released in arcades in 2005 before arriving on PSP in 2006. It introduced fan-favorite characters Lili and Dragunov and remains one of the most praised portable fighters ever made.
