Marvel Rivals is finally getting a PvE mode, and it’s arriving sooner than expected. Launching on October 23 UTC, the new mode is directly inspired by the recently released Marvel Zombies animated series and will let players face endless waves of the undead.

In this mode, you’ll step into the shoes of Blade, Magik, Punisher, Thor, and Jeff, each equipped with unique powers designed to handle the zombie outbreak. For example, Blade wields bouncing Moonblades, Thor enters a persistent Awakened state, Jeff charges through zombie hordes, and Magik’s Darkchild form has no limits. These tweaks make the heroes feel fresh, even if you’ve played them countless times before.

The announcement came from Marvel Games Executive Producer Danny Koo and Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum, who revealed the collaboration between NetEase and Marvel Animation. The goal is to give fans the PvE content they’ve been asking for since launch while also tying into the Disney+ series.
Of course, it’s not just about mowing down grunts. Players will eventually face off against bosses like Zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead, Scarlet Witch.
Beyond the core mode, fans can expect new skins, rewards, and possibly more zombie-themed enemies. The trailer so far has only shown basic grunts, but it wouldn’t be surprising if tougher variants appear once the mode goes live.
Whether or not this ties directly into the animated series remains unclear, but with Thor and Blade already featured in the show, the crossover feels natural.
